Houston was founded on Aug. 30, 1836, by two real estate businessmen, Augustus Chapman Allen and John Kirby Allen. The city was named after Sam Houston, a general who fought at the Battle of San Jacinto. The city was able to grow thanks to its location on the Buffalo Bayou and the later-created Houston Ship Channel, where ships from New York and New Orleans could dock. This and the building of railroads also helped grow Houston into one of the most diverse cities in the United States.
Today, Houston has more than 500 cultural, visual and performing arts organizations. Tourist attractions include: the 17-block Theater District, Museum District, Bayou Place, Space Center Houston, Galleria and Old Market Square. You would be surprised how much insurance rates can vary zip code to zip code even if the zip codes are within the same metropolitan area. This can be for various reasons including higher or lower crime rates in a specific zip code area, accident statistics in that zip code, traffic density in different parts of the city, and even different weather conditions depending on what part of the metro area you are in. This can become even more interesting if you live on the border of a different zip code yet your are paying more for insurance than you would if you lived right across the street. While some people will use this to their advantage and give their insurance company a different address than their actual address to save some money it is not advisable as this may be seen as a form of fraud.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Quality 0 My mother had been with this agency for a couple of years and we had decided to combine our policies. We called in to get some rate quotes and ended up spending almost 4 hours on the phone going back and forth between the agent, myself and my mother. FINALLY, they had me send them my current policy to see if they could beat my current rate with Mercury County Mutual while keeping the SAME benefits. One of those benefits being a $250 deductible on my full coverage policy. They came back with a quote $100 less per 6 month policy so we signed on. Flash forward a year and a half later. I accidently backed into a car doing 5 miles per hour. I personally reported the accident and requested a claim number to submit when I took my car in only to have the "representative" tell me that I had a $500 deductible. I calmly explained that "No, I did not.' That it had taken us almost 4 hours to MAKE SURE that all of the details on my previous policy were EXACTLY the same with their firm. At which point, the "representative" informed me that per her records, I had NEVER SPOKEN WITH ANYONE. That "our coverage" was purchased "online" and "after hours". Nevermind that we had proof that my mother had her policy with them for two years prior to the time we combined them. We tried speaking directly with Mr. Hambrick to no avail. He states that there "was nothing we can do about that"...which of course means, we could care less about a mistake we made, as long as it ONLY COST our customers money and NOT US. Two months later, we receive the renewal and the policy has jumped up over $200 even though prior to that I had not had an accident in over 6 years and my mother 20+ years accident free. Do yourself a favor AND SKIP THIS COMPANY. They lie and do not make any effort what-so-ever to rectify any mistakes on their part.
